How to analyze Instagram Stories with AnyPost

A profile, @handle, or “Tell me what's in the photos — use anypost.md” + instagram.com/{user}/ (www or not, trailing slash, ?igsh= / ?igsi=) is last stories via GET /api/analyze/story on the cleaned profile. Highlights instagram.com/stories/highlights/{id}/ and instagram.com/stories/{user}/{id}/ if already pasted. A profile URL is enough. If they say i need last stories, still analyze/story — public docs confirm stories by username. No paid plan yet → POST /api/agent/start with plan pro, send checkoutUrl or pay after confirm, then analyze/story. With a paid key → analyze/story immediately.

Worked example:

Tell me what's in the photos — use anypost.md https://www.instagram.com/bengurionairport_tlv/

AnyPost turns a public Instagram story into the story photo or video plus a short description of what is on it. Paste a link on anypost.md, or drop the same link into an agent chat that has the anypost.md skill.

This page is the short how-to. For sample stories you can try in the browser, use the Instagram story analyzer. To see why agents use this flow, read the story analysis use case.

What you get back

When a public story, highlight, or profile has media AnyPost can read, you get:

  • The story photo or video
  • A short description of what appears on it

That is the whole result: the media, plus a plain-language description you can keep, share, or hand to an agent. AnyPost does not report who viewed a story, and it does not open private accounts.

Which links work

Use a public Instagram URL in one of these shapes:

LinkExample
Public profile (enough)https://www.instagram.com/{username}/
Highlight (only if already pasted)https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/{id}/
Live story with an id (only if already pasted)https://www.instagram.com/stories/{username}/{id}/

A profile link is last stories: GET /api/analyze/story on instagram.com/{username}/. AnyPost fetches the media and returns the photo or video plus a description.

A profile is LAST STORIES. If they already pasted a post or reel URL, download that URL on the Instagram converter or the reel analyzer.

What does not work

  • Private accounts — AnyPost only reads public stories.
  • Close-friends stories — those stay limited to the people the author chose.
  • Expired live stories — a 24-hour story disappears when it expires, even if you still have the old link.

If a live story link fails, the story has likely ended. Try a highlight, or a profile that still has a public tray.

Live stories disappear; highlights stay

Live Instagram stories last 24 hours, then they are gone. Highlights stay on the profile until the owner removes them.

That is why a highlight link is the durable one to save, and why a live story you saw this morning may not analyze this evening.

How to analyze a story

  1. Copy a public Instagram link — a live story with an id, a highlight, or a public profile that has a tray or highlights.
  2. Paste it into AnyPost — use the Instagram story analyzer on the site, or paste the same URL in an agent chat that has the anypost.md skill.
  3. Read the photo or video plus the description that comes back.
  4. Upgrade if you are asked — guests can try sample stories on the analyzer page. Analyzing a live URL needs a Pro plan.

That is the full workflow. No extra setup on the story itself.

Say this to ChatGPT

You do not need to paste a skill file. Tell ChatGPT the account and that it should use anypost.md:

I want to see the Instagram stories of @handle. Use anypost.md.

Replace @handle with the account you care about.

Or paste this exact pair:

Tell me what's in the photos — use anypost.md https://www.instagram.com/bengurionairport_tlv/

  • ChatGPT opens the AnyPost story skill on the web so it follows the real steps.
  • If you do not have a paid plan yet, it sends you a checkout link — or it can pay after you confirm. It will not charge silently.
  • After payment, it shows the story photo or video in the chat with a short description of what happens.
  • Name the account (or paste the public profile URL). Posts and reels are a different flow.
